As the name implies, the
Science Olympiad is modeled after the Olympic games. Participating
schools field a team of 15 students which prepare to compete in
a variety of science events at the Regional and State competitions.
Nearly all of the events are hands-on, making them more meaningful
and FUN to the students.
In addition to being eligible to compete, member schools will receive the complete Coaches Manual containing the competition rules and descriptions of each Science Olympiad event. The Science Olympiad manual and its classroom application value alone is worth the membership fee. We would like you to consider joining to reap the benefits of incorporating these activities into the classroom!
Member schools may participate in a regional tournament and vie for the opportunity to advance to the state and national competitions. A wild card tournament for teams finishing one place out to the invitation to the state tournament will be held on March 14 at Ivy Tech (Lafayette) to fill any remaining spots at the state tournament. This year's state competition will be held at IUPUI on March 28. The national tournament will be held on May 15 - 16 at Augusta State University in Georgia.
If you have not participated in the past, please consider the opportunity your students would have to showcase their science ability and join in the excitement. For those schools that are returning to the competition, we look forward to seeing you and wish you luck in your regional Science Olympiad!
